MONCLOVA With an investment of close to US $ 20 million, Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) and the Korean company PACO Engineering have agreed to install and operate a galvanized sheet painting plant in Monclova, Coahuila, focused on the construction and line manufacturing industry.

It will be the first plant of its kind in Mexico and it will have a capacity to process 90,000 tons of cold rolled sheet annually, AHMSA said in a statement.

Luis Zamudio Miechielsen, general director of the company commented that "the painted sheet plant is one more step of AHMSA in the development program of steels with high added value and at the same time it will allow to replace imports".

The agreement was signed at the corporate offices of PACO in Seoul, Korea, by Seung-Hoan Ko, project director and Homero Pérez, director of Lamination, Maintenance and Services of AHMSA.

This project gives continuity to the agreement signed with the Korean company POSCO, which plans to galvanize cold rolled sheets generated by Altos Hornos de México at its plant located in Altamira, Tamaulipas,
