Wholesale sales of heavy vehicles grew by 50.6% during February

MEXICO - The National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Manufacturers (ANPACT) announced that wholesale sales of heavy vehicles during February totaled 4,151 units, which compared to the 2,756 units sold during the same month of 2022 represent an increase of 50.6%.

During the first two months of the year, a total of 7,553 units were sold, which compared to the 5,301 units sold during the same period last year, representing a 42.5% increase. During February, a total of 13,231 units were exported, which compared to the 11,712 units exported during February 2022, represents an increase of 13.0%.

Production of heavy vehicles during February 2023 totaled 16,912 units, which translates into a 17.9% growth compared to the same month of the previous year, when a total of 13,346 units were produced.

In terms of accumulated figures, during the first two months of 2023, a total of 28,452 units were exported, which compared to the 25,020 units exported during the same period of 2022, represents a growth of 13.7%. Production during January and February totaled 35,480 units, representing a 22.0% increase compared to the 29,088 units produced during the first two months of 2022.

Miguel Elizalde, executive president of ANPACT, commented that the figures indicate a recovery of the industry that is showing increasing vigor and dynamism and that must be consolidated over time to take advantage of the opportunities that nearshoring represents for our country.

"In recent days we have observed concrete and positive facts that the automotive industry's investment in nearshoring is a real trend. Therefore, a strong and competitive trucking industry is essential to make it happen," he said.
