Nearshoring encourages companies in the aerospace industry

MEXICO - The organization of companies that work directly with the European Space Agency (ESA), is in Mexico with the intention of promoting industrial cooperation and evaluating the installation of European companies in the aerospace sector in the country.

The head of the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), Salvador Landeros, revealed that during the plenary session of associates of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA).

According to a press release, the official from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), said that the linkage began last February with the signing of agreements with the director of European, Legal and International Affairs of ESA, Eric Morel de Westgaver.

With this linkage, SME4SPACE will be able to take advantage of the current boom in the relocation of companies or "nearshoring" to install companies in the sector, in this case European companies, in Mexico.

Likewise, this will allow coordinating and supporting Mexican organizations and companies in the space sector to facilitate access to ESA and the programs offered by the European Union.

Landeros said that this recognition also demonstrates that Mexican ingenuity is capable of inserting itself in a space industry that, in the nanosatellite segment alone, represents an average global income of US$4 billion, and an enormous potential to create jobs in the country.
