Aeromexico announces the return of its MAX-9s to the air

MEXICO CITY - After 19 days on the ground for overhaul, Grupo Aeromexico received authorization from the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to reinstate its MAX-9 aircraft.

Through a press release, the Eagle Knight airline said it "received the authorization to reinstate the Boeing 737 MAX-9 equipment into operation once the FAA-approved inspections are completed, which we expect to be in the next few days.

In light of this, Aeromexico thanked the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) for their support throughout this process, and reiterated their sincere apologies to their customers for the inconvenience associated with this situation completely out of their control.

"For Aeromexico, safety is and always will be of the utmost importance," the statement said.

According to the most recent data from the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), 246 flights were cancelled, to which the airline argued that the affected passengers were reaccommodated and protected in terms of the law.

Profeco handled 15 cases through express conciliation, and 3 complaints were formalized.
