UAEMéx trains first generation of satellite integration specialists
STATE OF MEXICO - The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx), with support from the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), reported on the creation of the educational course for the first generation of specialists in satellite integration, with the use of its educational nanosatellite "AtlaCom-1".
Francisco Zepeda Mondragón, secretary of Extension and Liaison of the university, thanked the support of the rector Carlos Eduardo Barrera Díaz to carry out cutting-edge actions in "Training of trainers" such as this one, which have managed to place the institution as a national reference in the space field.
"We are convinced that the State of Mexico, through the UAEMEX, will be key for our country to enter fully into the nanosatellite industry, which globally represents an average turnover of US$4 billion, and thus take advantage of the current nearshoring boom to set up companies in Mexico," said Zepeda.
In this collaboration, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), specialists from the National Laboratory for Earth Observation (LANOT) of the Faculty of Geography, and the Atlacomulco University Center of the UAEMEX are participating.
For his part, Salvador Landeros Ayala, general director of the AEM, emphasized that, in addition to the many actions of Rector Barrera's administration, the distinction of fully inserting the UAEMEX into the space age will be added, which, nationally, is the second public state university to have LANOT satellite data and images.
He added that UAEMEX also supports the Autonomous University of Guerrero (UAGRO) by giving them the same nanosatellite integration course, to add to their own satellite support capacity building program for the civil protection of the population of that entity in the event of natural disasters.
