Merida and China strengthen ties

CHINA - The Merida City Council highlighted its participation in the International Forum of Mayors of Sister Cities in Chengdu, China.

This initiative seeks to expand and strengthen collaboration between Mérida and Sichuan Province in various sectors including technology, culture and sustainable development.

Alejandro Ruz Castro, Mayor of Merida, reaffirmed the city's commitment to generating international ties that promote beneficial economic and social development for citizens.

"It is essential for us to foster relationships that not only drive economic growth, but also enrich the quality of life of our people," he said.

During the event, Edgardo Bolio Arceo, representative of the Mayor and director of the Municipal Planning Institute of Merida (IMPLAN), detailed the activities carried out.

Among them, the participation in the "Horticultural Exposition 2024" and the inauguration of the Friendly Cities Museum, where Mérida was honored with its own space.

Bolio Arceo highlighted the importance of these meetings for the future of Mérida, especially in areas such as technological and industrial innovation.

"These collaborations are crucial to adapt sustainable urban development strategies that integrate advanced technology and respect for the environment," he said.
