Canadian companies in Mexico warn of negative effects of AMLO’s reforms
MEXICO - The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CanCham) stated that the reforms proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador may have negative implications on the certainty, transparency and professionalism of the country's economic sectors.
“CanCham expresses the concern of the Canadian business and investment community about the constitutional initiative to reform the Judiciary and the disappearance of several autonomous bodies,” stated the organization headed by Luis Noriega.
The chamber recalled that it maintains its commitment, as it has for more than 42 years, to the promotion of trade and investment between Mexico and Canada.
“The organization is convinced of the immense potential that North American society offers Mexico in the most varied sectors for its modernization and growing integration,” it said.
CanCham reaffirmed its willingness to establish bridges of constructive and proactive dialogue with the authorities and with the appointees of the incoming federal government.
According to the business organization, the CanCham Day was held on August 22 with a large number of attendees, which confirmed the “vibrant relationship” of business and friendship between Mexico and Canada.
The chamber is the voice of Canadian business in the country and was founded in 1982 to represent Canadian business interests in Mexico and promote trade and investment between Canada and Mexico.
