NL and Laredo agree to promote Mexico-U.S. cross-border train project

NUEVO LEON - As part of the work being done to promote the consolidation of a cross-border train, the governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia held a meeting with the mayor of Laredo, Texas, Victor Treviño to address the issue of the Mexico-United States railroad and agree on a comprehensive cooperation to carry out the project.

“As we have already done with authorities of other important cities in Texas, Laredo joins this project that strengthens the Nuevo Leon - Texas connectivity and will continue to consolidate our Colombia - Laredo Customs, as the most competitive in the Mexico - United States border,” said Garcia Sepulveda.

For his part, Victor Treviño assured that the promotion of the Cross Border Train is one of the priority issues of the City of Laredo, to continue consolidating the strategic alliance with Nuevo Leon and Mexico.

The agreement between both officials took place at the headquarters of Codefront, the entity that administers the Colombia - Laredo Border Port on behalf of the Government of Nuevo Leon.

During his speech, García emphasized that Nuevo León will conclude in due time and form the procedures to obtain this year the U.S. presidential permit for the expansion of the Colombia - Laredo International Bridge from 8 to 16 lanes.

During the meeting, the Governor of Nuevo Leon analyzed the progress of the project with all those involved.

Among those attending the work meeting were Marco Gonzalez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development; Juan Carlos Mendoza, Consul General of Mexico in Laredo; and Emmanuel Loo, Undersecretary of Investment of Nuevo Leon.

Also in attendance were Lieutenant Colonel Eric Salinas, Administrator of Colombia Customs; Kent Richards, Director of Laredo International Bridges; Melissa Montemayor, Baltazar Avila and Blasita Lopez, Consultants of LJA; Eduardo Villarreal Delgado, President of the Colombian Customs Brokers Association; and Alfonso de los Rios, CEO of NOWPORTS; among others.
