Government of Sonora and Foxconn explore investments in electromobility and technology

The governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, held meetings in Mexico City with President Claudia Sheinbaum and representatives of the Taiwanese company Foxconn, with the aim of promoting new investments linked to the technology and sustainable energy sector in the state.
During the meetings, it was agreed to create a working group made up of the Ministry of Energy, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the state government and Taiwanese businessmen, in order to evaluate strategic projects, including the possible installation of an electric vehicle plant in Sonora.
Durazo pointed out that these negotiations are part of the effort to position the state as an attractive destination for technology companies, particularly in the electromobility and semiconductor sectors. In this sense, the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan has been presented as a platform to trigger investments in energy infrastructure and high-tech manufacturing.
The participation of Foxconn, one of the world's leading manufacturers of electronic components, marks an important step in the international promotion of the plan, whose focus is on economic development based on clean energy and advanced technology.
According to the state governor, the support of the Federal Government and the coordination between authorities and the private sector will be key to materialize the projects and consolidate Sonora as a regional pole of innovation and sustainability.
