Amazon expands its logistics network in Mexico City

Amazon is strengthening its presence in the Mexican capital with the opening of its new DXX2 logistics station in the Coyoacán district, covering 7,500 square meters. This opening will generate 150 direct jobs in addition to the 3,000 already working in Mexico City.

The DXX2 station joins Amazon's logistics network in the city, which includes the DMX6 stations in Gustavo A. Madero and DXX1 in the Cuauhtémoc district, the latter considered the company's largest in Latin America. The location strategy for these centers responds to the need to optimize distribution in one of the most densely populated urban areas with high demand for e-commerce.

According to data provided by the company, by 2024, its operation in Mexico City will include the incorporation of more than 6,500 local sellers to its platform, in addition to generating 18,000 indirect jobs and a cumulative investment of 50 billion pesos that the company has allocated to infrastructure and operations in Mexico since its arrival in 2015.

“This growth is also key to being able to incorporate more sellers, who do not have to devote time to developing their own logistics and online sales network and can focus on their business,” said Arturo Del Oso, Amazon logistics coordinator. In Mexico City, there are more than 7,400 independent sellers offering their products online through Amazon Mexico.

“At Amazon Mexico, we operate with a constant challenge to improve the speed and efficiency of our services. Thanks to our logistics network, of which Mexico City is a fundamental part, we have the capacity to deliver products to Prime members on the same day in 14 cities across the country, including the Mexico City Metropolitan Area,” said Diana Frances, general manager of Amazon Logistics.
