Japanese Yamaguchi MFG Formalizes Operations in SLP

The Japanese-owned manufacturing company Yamaguchi MFG Mexico inaugurated its new plant in San Luis Potosí, in which it invested US$13.6 million. According to state authorities, the opening led to the creation of more than 100 direct jobs.

The production site, its 12th globally, is located in the Colinas de San Luis Industrial Park, in the municipality of Villa de Pozos. The company has a presence in seven countries and more than 1,000 employees.

Yamaguchi MFG is a Tier 2 automotive supplier that designs and produces a wide variety of plastic and metal components, from specialty screws and anchors to precision machined parts and subassemblies.

The parts are used in headlights and taillights, window regulators, brakes, fluid management, gearboxes, locks, and seats. According to its official website, the automakers it supplies parts to include Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Mazda.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by company executives led by Shozo Yamaguchi, president of Yamaguchi MFG, as well as the Consul General of Japan in León, Guanajuato, Takero Aoyama.

In his speech, Governor Ricardo Gallardo highlighted that his administration already has a representative office in Tokyo to maintain a direct line of communication with businesspeople in that region.
