AIFA and Mexicana de Aviación Earn “Made in Mexico” Label

The Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and the airline Mexicana de Aviación were officially awarded the “Made in Mexico” certification in a ceremony led by the Ministry of Economy, recognizing their national origin, quality standards, and contribution to Mexico’s internal development.
The certificate was presented by Bárbara Botello Santibáñez, head of the National Brand and Brand Policy Division. During the event, Botello emphasized that the “Made in Mexico” label goes beyond a commercial designation — it reflects a broader state policy aimed at celebrating Mexican talent, creativity, and innovation.
Brigadier General Isidoro Pastor Román, director of AIFA, received the award on behalf of the airport and highlighted that the recognition not only honors their work but also commits them to positioning AIFA as a symbol of national excellence.
For Mexicana de Aviación, the recognition comes during a key moment in its revival. The airline, once considered a symbol of Mexican aviation history, is returning with a renewed vision and modern fleet, aiming to restore a brand deeply rooted in the country’s identity.
The certification comes as Mexicana de Aviación expands its fleet with new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, part of a plan to incorporate 20 units in the coming years. So far, at least three of these aircraft have arrived at AIFA, strengthening the relaunch of the airline.
The first units began commercial operations on August 25, following regulatory certification. The airline’s modern fleet reflects its commitment to offering competitive, efficient, and sustainable air services.
The “Made in Mexico” label granted to both AIFA and Mexicana de Aviación reflects Mexico’s broader ambition to strengthen national production, promote domestic consumption, and position local projects as global standards of quality.
For AIFA, the certification marks another step in establishing itself as a key player in the country’s aviation infrastructure. For Mexicana, it serves as an endorsement of its return — not just to the skies, but to the hearts of Mexican travelers.
The challenge ahead lies in turning this symbolic recognition into measurable results: reliable service, competitive fares, expanded routes, and a strong presence in Mexico’s aviation market.
