Golf Production in Puebla to Showcase Mexican Talent: VW

Volkswagen de México announced that the work to bring back Golf production to the Puebla plant, scheduled for 2027, is progressing as planned through “a process of comprehensive capacity building.”

According to the German automaker, this process represents not only the return of the brand's most iconic model to that location, but also “a bridge that marks the transition of this manufacturing center, the company's largest in North America, toward its future.”

“With nearly 60 years of experience and 14.5 million vehicles made by Mexican hands, Volkswagen de México's Puebla plant is taking firm steps in its preparation for the start of Golf production,” the report notes.

Holger Nestler, president and CEO of Volkswagen de México, emphasized that the adjustments being made at this industrial complex lay the foundation for a successful start, with the automaker supplying vehicles for all segments of the brand: SUV, sedan, and hatchback.

“Preparing our Puebla plant for a successful launch of the Golf is a privilege for all of us who are part of this great team. We once again have an icon of the brand on our lines, and we will make its return a great success story,” said the executive.

Nestler guaranteed that “operational excellence” will continue to be the common denominator for this launch.

The executive added that the adaptation of the plant activates investments in infrastructure and equipment that promote the specialization of suppliers and strengthen the automotive cluster.

At the same time, he said, applied engineering and technological upgrades generate new opportunities for companies in the value chain, promote knowledge transfer, and consolidate the region as a hub for advanced manufacturing.

Finally, he emphasized that the production of Volkswagen Golfs at the Puebla plant represents an opportunity to promote national talent, as the adaptation process involves advanced technical training, skills updating, and the development of skills in digitization, quality, and complex process management.

In this regard, he explained, “participating in the manufacture of a global vehicle strengthens the team's experience and projects Mexican talent as a key player within the Volkswagen Group.”
