Ford to challenge the G Wagen with Lincoln SUV

A luxury SUV based on the Ford Bronco is under development at the blue oval, with a view to being launched under the Lincoln brand in 2029 or 2030. This model will compete directly with the iconic Mercedes-Benz G Wagen and Range Rover, according to the specialist publication Autoweek.
The report, which cites sources involved in the program, details that the architecture of the new two-row vehicle will share more components with the next generation of the revived SUV, scheduled to debut in 2031, than with the current version, launched in 2021.
According to the leaked schedule, the model will hit the market alongside another new competitor, a similarly sized SUV developed by BMW that will begin production at the premium automaker's plant in South Carolina in the second half of 2029.
Currently, Lincoln's entire lineup consists of only four SUVs: the full-size Navigator, the mid-size Aviator and Nautilus, and the compact Corsair. However, the latter was recently discontinued along with the Ford Escape, with which it shared a platform.
Both trucks were assembled at the Louisville, Kentucky, plant, which will be reconfigured to produce the next generation of affordable electric vehicles under Ford's Universal Platform.
The first model in this ambitious program, a midsize pickup truck priced at around $30,000, is expected to roll off the assembly line next year.
