Southeast Mexico seeks to boost aerospace industry

Mexico’s southeast region is positioning itself as a new hub for the aerospace industry, with Quintana Roo emerging as a key player due to its strategic location and growing infrastructure.
Officials highlighted that the state’s network of four international airports provides a strong foundation to expand beyond air transport into higher-value activities such as aircraft maintenance and component manufacturing.
As part of this effort, the upcoming Tulum Air Show 2026 will serve as a major platform to attract investment and industry attention. The event is expected to gather around 30,000 attendees over several days, combining aerial exhibitions, academic forums, and business meetings.
Authorities and industry leaders aim to leverage these initiatives to diversify the region’s economy, which has traditionally relied on tourism. By promoting aerospace development, they seek to generate specialized jobs and open opportunities for professionals in engineering and advanced manufacturing fields.
The strategy also includes strengthening collaboration between universities, companies, and government institutions to build a skilled workforce and attract global investment.
With these efforts, southeastern Mexico is looking to establish itself as a new technological and industrial growth pole, expanding the country’s footprint in the global aerospace sector.
