Manufacturing expectations fall in Mexico

The upward trend shown by the Manufacturing Orders Index (MOI) in March faltered in April, although it remained in expansionary territory, according to figures from INEGI.
Mexico’s MOI showed a monthly decline of 0.6 points, standing at 50.6 points in April of this year, after rising by 0.6 points in March.
Expected production volumes fell by 3.7 points month-over-month and 5.1 points year-over-year; expected total employment levels declined by 0.03 and 0.6 points, respectively; and expected deliveries of inputs from suppliers remained flat in April.
In the fourth month of 2026—and based on unadjusted data—the MOI stood at 50.2 points, the same level reported in April 2025. Regarding the performance of its components, two of the five categories that make up the index showed annual increases, while the remaining three declined.
