SEMARNAT & ECOCE promote Mexico’s circular economy

The Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, together with ECOCE, signed a Framework Agreement to strengthen initiatives related to integrated waste management, recycling, material separation, and the circular economy in Mexico.
During the signing of the agreement, collaboration between government, industry, and society will be one of the central elements for advancing toward circular economy schemes, pollution prevention, and sustainable development in Mexico.
He added that the environmental strategy includes mechanisms related to industrial diversification, strengthening of productive capacities, and projects linked to the General Law on the Circular Economy and the Circular Economy Hubs for Well-being (PODECIBIs).
For his part, Jorge Terrazas, ECOCE’s executive director, stated that the agreement will strengthen institutional and technical collaboration to develop solutions focused on comprehensive waste management and the utilization of recyclable materials.
As part of the immediate actions resulting from the agreement, ECOCE will install 10 containers for the separation and collection of recyclable waste within SEMARNAT facilities to promote a culture of recycling, material separation, and the recovery of recyclable waste among workers and visitors.
