Air cargo in Mexico grows 6.5%

According to statistics from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), air cargo traffic in Mexico continued to grow in March 2026, driven primarily by strong performance at airports such as Santa Lucia, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Queretaro.
Airports handled 109,671 tons in March 2026, representing a 5.4% increase compared to the 104,082 tons recorded in March of the previous year.
In domestic cargo, the airport system handled 32,023 tons in March, a 5.5% increase; however, the quarterly cumulative total showed a slight contraction of 0.5%, falling from 88,829 to 88,353.5 tons.
For international cargo, the volume handled reached 77,647.4 tons in March, a 5.3% increase, while the January-March total amounted to 212,377.6 tons, 9.8% more than in 2025.
Santa Lucia once again led this segment with 35,172.6 tons in March and 97,962.2 tons cumulatively, equivalent to growth of 8.6% and 16.1%, respectively.
Guadalajara reported the strongest growth among the major international airports, with a 31.7% increase in March and a 28.9% increase for the quarter, reaching 38,382.1 tons.
