REYNOSA – The governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, the undersecretary of Energy of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres and Paolo Romanacci, general director for Mexico and Central America of ENEL Green Power, inaugurated in Reynosa the "Salitrillos" Wind Farm, made up by 30 wind turbines with a production capacity of 103 MWh (megawatts/hour).
“Wind energy is one of the fastest growing industries in the country, Tamaulipas shows it’s at the forefront”, stressed Maciel Torres.
On the other hand, Paolo Romanacci, director of the corporate ENEL Green Power, stated that in this project there was an investment of US$150 million, in which industry and manpower have demonstrated a unique capacity compared to other parts of the world.
The entrance of the "Salitrillos" Wind Farm represents in environmental terms the avoidance of the emission of 236,000 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere and the planting of more than 6.5 million trees annually.
