Aerospace Engineering Career has more niches than just going into space: UPAEP
PUEBLA - During the press conference "Challenges for Mexico in the aerospace field", the director of the Mechatronics degree at UPAEP, Omar Gonzalez acknowledged that locally, whoever wants to study this career, among the first points to address is to be clear that not everyone is going to be an astronaut.
"It's not like I want to be a special engineer, and I'm going to go into space, the reality is that we must understand that there are many niches of opportunity that can be addressed," he said.
Similarly, he insisted that aerospace engineering has many fields, and is not only about going into space, to Mars or the moon.
"Challenges and opportunities we have many more. The aerospace industry fosters and stimulates the development of manufacturing of productive systems, promotes much more other products," he said, recognizing that in Puebla there is no aerospace cluster.
In this sense, he emphasized that there is one in Queretaro, so they are looking to strengthen the education of students, so they have collaborations with other universities and industries, in order to perform their internships in that entity.
For her part, Argelia Miranda, academic director of mechatronics, indicated that since the creation of the Aerospace Engineering career in 2016 there have been several changes, and already several generations that are working in the business sector, others more in Mexicana de Aviación.
"The main changes that arose also according to the demand of the aerospace industry, new subjects have been incorporated into the curriculum to strengthen those requirements that demand the special air".
On the subject, he listed some subjects in this air as advanced avionics, in which they identify current architectures; as well as aircraft control and stability; small satellite technology.
