Aerospace Projects from the North Come to UdeG

The signing of an agreement with the Autonomous University of Chihuahua aims to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration with this institution.
Strength lies in unity between two institutions that, from their respective regional contexts, undertake research and cultural creation projects. This is the case with the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) and the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH), which formalized an agreement this afternoon to share initiatives that benefit both university communities.
This Friday, in the José Clemente Orozco Hall of the UdeG General Rector’s Office building, the collaboration between UACH and UdeG was formalized through the signing of the Interinstitutional Framework Agreement for Cooperation between the two institutions; this will result in topics such as aerospace research and semiconductor technology transfer, among various projects carried out in the northern part of the country, reaching Jalisco.
“What they offer in terms of aerospace engineering is very important to us, because we have a project that deals precisely with that and is linked to the Guadalajara airport area, which is growing rapidly and serving many international destinations,” said the Rector General, Karla Planter Pérez.
This agreement opens the door to developing various types of joint projects, such as establishing collaboration agreements with faculty and students; this includes courses, study abroad programs, training internships, professional work, research projects, outreach and extension projects, among others.
“Currently, it is essential to establish strategic alliances between universities. Because ultimately, we are called to work within a dynamic network that responds swiftly to the major challenges we face as humanity—challenges that exist in both the very specific contexts of our regions and in globalized environments,” she explained.
The Rector of UACH, Luis Alfonso Rivera Campos, emphasized that they are not only willing to share expertise in aeronautical engineering but also in cultural matters; as they are about to release two documentaries on two priority issues in Chihuahua: one on migration and another on access to water; which Planter Pérez proposed submitting to the Socio-Environmental Film Showcase of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).
“It is a pleasure to return to Guadalajara with Rector General Karla Planter, who has set a standard for universities—particularly autonomous universities—and, more broadly, for the world of education. We are here because we believe in her, we believe in her vision, and we want to partner with the plans and projects at UdeG,” emphasized the Rector of UACH.
As part of the effort to foster project collaboration, Rivera Campos requested UdeG’s support in providing sound engineering expertise from those who operate major university venues, such as the Santander Performing Arts Complex or the Telmex Auditorium, which the UACH Rector describes as spaces of excellence. Planter Pérez acknowledged that support like this demonstrates how significant one institution can be to another, and thus enhances projects for both universities.
Other projects proposed by the UdeG’s Rector General included collaborative work in nursing programs, student and faculty exchange programs, as well as addressing common issues such as migration, and even potential basketball and soccer matches.
The Executive Vice Rector of the UdeG, Dr. Héctor Raúl Solís Gadea, highlighted the importance of this specific collaboration, given that the UACH is one of the most important educational institutions in Northern Mexico.
As a token of appreciation for this institutional event, UACH officials presented the Rector General with a commemorative book about the Quinta Gameros University Cultural Center, which belongs to UACH; in turn, Planter Pérez gifted small lion sculptures created by the artist Álvaro Cuevas de Alba.
