Agricultural exports fell by 14.8% in Querétaro

Agricultural exports were valued at US$127.7 million between January and September 2025, representing an annual decline of 14.8%, according to records from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
This decline contrasts with the annual increase achieved in the same period of 2024, when the value of agricultural exports rose to US$$149.9 million, representing a growth of 10%.
The recent result reflects the decline in exports in the sector since the first quarter of 2025, when they registered an annual decline of 8.3%. In the second quarter of that year, the decline was more significant, reaching 19.3%, and in the third quarter, it was -18.8%.
Therefore, these declines were also observed on a quarterly basis: after agricultural exports grew by 33.7% in the fourth quarter of 2024, the decline began with 2.8% in the first quarter of 2025, but in the second quarter the drop was -28.6% and in the third quarter -12.5 percent.
In the July-September quarter of 2025 alone, Querétaro's total exports amounted to 4.488 billion pesos, of which 99% corresponded to the manufacturing sector and 0.8% to the agricultural sector, which is mainly based on agriculture.
At the local level, the agricultural sector's share of foreign sales is lower than its contribution at the national level (2% in the third quarter).
However, the 18.8% annual decline in the state's agricultural exports was slightly below the national trend, as foreign sales in this sector fell by 17.5% nationwide.
Of the 32 states, 23 showed negative annual variations in the July-September quarter, and only the remaining nine increased the value of primary exports.
Thus, it was one of the sectors with the largest drop in the value of its exports in Querétaro. the printing and related industries segment had the most significant annual decline (-29.2%), followed by the beverage and tobacco industry (-27.6%), agriculture (-18.8%), the chemical industry (-12.9%), and clothing manufacturing (-10.6%).
Meanwhile, the most significant growth was concentrated in the manufacture of computer, communication, measurement, and other electronic equipment, components, and accessories (25.5%), the manufacture of metal products (21.1%), the manufacture of transportation equipment (9.3%), the plastics and rubber industry (5.6%), and exports from basic metal industries (3%).
