AICM inaugurates Module XI as part of its modernization program

Mexico City International Airport (AICM) has opened Module XI as part of its remodeling program, the first stage of which will be completed next year. The aim is to provide safer, more comfortable, modern, and efficient spaces that improve the passenger experience.

The work carried out in this area covered the final waiting area for gates 29 to 36 for international flights, the access corridor, as well as the arrival flow separation areas and the bus boarding and alighting lobby that transports passengers to remote positions.

The work was carried out without affecting aircraft landings or takeoffs, optimizing the use of the available positions in Terminal 1. Over an area of 6,400 square meters, gray granite floors, white and wood baffle-type ceiling panels, tactile guides for the visually impaired, LED lighting, roof waterproofing, remodeling of two bathroom modules, and construction of an additional one were installed.

Work was also carried out on cleaning facades, window frames, repairing air conditioning units, replacing electrical, hydraulic, sanitary, voice, and data installations, as well as maintaining the closed-circuit television system.

The furniture was renovated with benches, seats, planters, flight information screens, and digital signage.

Work is currently continuing in the Bravo pre-waiting room in Terminal 1. In Terminal 2, remodeling of the corridor connecting the domestic and international departure lounges is progressing, as well as the modernization of passenger inspection point M, the renovation and polishing of floors, the maintenance of sanitary facilities, and the refurbishment of the facades of both terminal buildings.

The work is being carried out in stages to minimize inconvenience to users, workers, and visitors. This progress represents about 10% of the total AICM remodeling project, with an investment of US$2.9 million, coming from revenue generated by the airport itself.
