AIFA builds six warehouses to increase its cargo capacity

Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) confirmed that it has completed the construction of six cargo warehouses and the expansion of the platform, with an investment of US$69 million, meaning that this new infrastructure will be able to receive up to 900,000 tons per year.
Isidoro Pastor, general director of AIFA, emphasized that these bonded warehouses were built last March and have already been awarded, although the corresponding paperwork still needs to be completed with the Mexican National Customs Agency (ANAM) before they can begin operating.
"They are ready, they have been awarded, and they are being equipped. All that is needed now is for the commercial partners themselves to complete the formalities with the Mexican National Customs Agency so that they can begin foreign trade operations. I have been told that they intend to start at the end of July or August," he said.
In an interview after his participation in ACI Airport Day Mexico, he commented, without giving names, that five are new companies, only one of which was already operating at AIFA.
It is worth mentioning that the following companies currently operate at this airport: Admerce, Términal Logistics, AAACESA Almacenes, JC&JF Cargo, Interpuerto Multimodal de México, World Express Cargo de México, CCO Almacén Fiscal, TMM Almacenadora, Insumos Comerciales Especializados, and Grupo Camili de México.
Talma México Servicios Aeroportuarios recently announced that it will invest US$9 million in the construction of its second warehouse at AIFA. Authorization for the facilities began in 2022 and will end in 2032.
Isidoro Pastor commented that the current facilities have a total capacity of 470,000 tons, but in 2024 they closed with more than 447,000 tons, the maximum cargo handling capacity.
Under this scenario, he explained that the six new facilities were built with AIFA's own resources, and with the new infrastructure they will be able to receive almost 900,000 tons per year.
“We have a strategic bonded warehouse with a capacity of 200,000 tons more, and with the expansion of the cargo platform, we will be able to have five medium-sized aircraft operating simultaneously,” he said.
He assured that the additional warehouses will give AIFA the necessary capacity to face the next five years, as long as there is no growth in foreign trade.
