Alsea begins construction of operations center in Tonalá
TONALA, JAL - With an investment of US$33.3 million, Alsea began construction of a new operations center to be located in Tonalá, Jalisco.
This new center will be the company's second largest and will generate more than 180 direct jobs and is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of next year.
Miguel Cavazza, Director of Supply Chain and Operational Support, explained that this will be the company's fifth operations center in addition to those already operating in Mexico City, Monterrey, Cancun and Hermosillo.
“This is the fifth and will be the second in importance for its volume it will move and its location. Supporting more than 300 stores and more than 75 routes,” said Cavazza.
He added that the location of the new distribution center is strategic and was analyzed for more than six months.
“Being located here in Guadalajara allows us to be 20 minutes away from the city and bring merchandise from various parts of the country, and also allows us to have a connection with other distribution centers and be able to supply more efficiently,” he added.
Ignacio Ponce, Director of Logistics and Manufacturing, explained that this new distribution center will serve the cities of Aguascalientes, Colima, Culiacán, Guadalajara, Colima and Zacatecas.
“This allows us, without entering the city of Guadalajara, to serve this entire region,” he said.
The construction, which covers 12,000 square meters, will be carried out within 12 months, with the intention of starting operations in the third quarter of 2025.
