Apple grows in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - Tech giant Apple Inc. is planning a major expansion in San Diego and has leased all of a new office building currently under development by BioMed Realty in the active University To w n C e n t e r neighborhood. The project will be completed in 2021.

This second building will allow the company to continue its expansion, not just in space, but also in engineering workforce in the region.

Last year, Apple committed to employ 1,200 people on its San Diego site in the upcoming three years.

In 2018, the company had 600 employees in this border city and pledged to add 170 new Apple employees by the end of 2019.
