Around US$4 million invested in the Mexican coffee industry

According to official data, about 1.4 kilos of coffee are consumed, per person, in Mexico. Moreover, coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water, therefore, its production and trade play a very important role for many Mexican states.
Mexico is the main producer of organic coffee worldwide and currently allocates an area of 30,000 hectares for this type of planting in Chiapas and Oaxaca. It is also a leader in export matters, as it sends more than 28,000 tons of coffee to Europe, annually.Â
In this regard, the delegate of the Secretaria de Agricultura, Ganaderia, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentacion (SAGARPA) in Oaxaca, Adolfo Toledo Infanzon, said that, in 2018, the federal government made an investment of more than US$4 million in the coffee industry. Consequently, benefiting 13,0722 Mexican coffee producers.
