Belgium and Baja California seek partnership in aerospace industry

As part of the Mexico 2025 Multisectoral Mission, a business delegation from Belgium visited Baja California with the aim of consolidating alliances in key industrial sectors such as aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, and clean technologies.

It is worth noting that this visit represents a significant step in strengthening economic, technological, and industrial cooperation between the two regions.

Organized in collaboration with the Belgian Embassy in Mexico, the promotion agency Wallonia.be, Flanders State of the Art, and the regional platform ProBaja Trade & Investment (composed of organizations such as DEITAC), the agenda focused on promoting investment opportunities and technological exchange.

“The interest shown by Belgium confirms Baja California's industrial potential as a strategic hub in North America,” said Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo, Undersecretary of State for Investment Management.

“We have solid capabilities in innovation, specialized talent, and high-value manufacturing, which positions us as attractive partners for European industry,” he added.

On October 12 and 13, B2B meetings, sectoral roundtables, and a notable visit to the Ontex plant, a Belgian company with operations in Tijuana that exemplifies the binational commitment to industrial efficiency and sustainability, took place.

Key participants included Pascale Delcomminette, CEO of the Walloon Agency for Export and Foreign Investment (AWEX), and Patrick Herman, Belgian ambassador to Mexico, who highlighted the advantages offered by Belgium (and particularly the Walloon region) as a strategic destination for investment and scientific and technological cooperation.

In this context, Andrade Pelayo announced a roadshow in Mexico City in November, focused on expanding contacts with embassies and companies in the aerospace and technology sectors, as well as preparing the state's presence at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, one of the world's most important platforms for these sectors.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, through ProBaja, reaffirms its commitment to attracting high-impact industrial investments, promoting technological cooperation, and integrating Baja California into global value chains.
