Boeing and Palantir promote AI adoption in defense programs

Boeing and Palantir announced a joint working agreement to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) systems and software into Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) factories and programs.

During the annual Air, Space & Cyber Conference, it was announced that BDS will leverage Palantir's innovative Foundry platform, which uses AI to unify complex and disparate systems under a simplified and intuitive user interface.

BDS currently operates more than a dozen major production lines that manufacture military aircraft, helicopters, satellites, spacecraft, missiles, and weapons. The alliance with Palantir will enable the standardization of data analysis and information generation across its global network of defense plants.

“Palantir is at the forefront of using artificial intelligence to accelerate the delivery of critical products, services, and capabilities to military operators. Therefore, this collaboration is a natural union that brings together two great companies with a common mission: to support uniformed personnel in protecting freedom around the world,” said Steve Parker, CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security.

In addition, BDS has engaged Palantir to provide AI expertise and capabilities on several classified and undisclosed proprietary programs aimed at supporting the most sensitive missions of its military customers.

For his part, Mike Gallagher, head of defense at Palantir, said that Space & Security is committed to providing dominant capabilities to military personnel to deter conflict and defend the homeland.

“This partnership will drive production and innovation, enabling Boeing and Palantir to bring cutting-edge technology to current and next-generation defense programs. America's enemies are not standing still, and neither can we,” he said.
