Business Confidence Index down in March

Following February’s monthly increase, the main index measuring business confidence among the country’s major manufacturers fell by 0.38 points in March of this year, according to data from INEGI.


However, the Global Business Confidence Opinion Indicator (IGOEC), which stood at 48.4 points in March, fell by 0.92 points: its 23rd consecutive annual decline.


The Business Confidence Index (ICE) for construction stood at 47.8 points in March, keeping Mexico below the 50-point threshold for 19 consecutive months.


Upon releasing the Monthly Business Opinion Survey (EMOE), which presents business executives’ expectations and perceptions regarding the performance of Mexico’s manufacturing sector, INEGI reported that the Manufacturing Orders Indicator (IPM) rose by 0.5 points month-over-month, following its previous drop of 0.5 points, to stand at 51.2 points.


Based on raw data, without any statistical processing, in the third month of 2026, the IPM stood at 55.3 points, representing an annual increase of 0.5 points
