BYD Surpasses Tesla in Sales for Fourth Quarter in a Row

Despite Tesla's historic performance during the third quarter of the year, the US tech giant was once again surpassed by its rival BYD in global sales of 100% electric vehicles.
In the period ending last September, China's largest automotive company delivered 582,500 zero-emission units in the various markets where it operates, including Mexico.
Although the figure represents a 4% decline from the previous quarter, when compared to the same period last year, the increase is 31.4%.
Meanwhile, the company led by controversial magnate Elon Musk sold a record 497,100 units, driven largely by U.S. consumers who took advantage of the tax incentive for purchasing electric cars before it expired at the end of September.
Tesla's sales volume represents a 29.4% increase compared to the previous period, while the increase is 7.4% compared to the same quarter in 2024.
With these results, the Chinese automaker has now been the absolute leader in the global zero-emission vehicle market for four consecutive quarters, despite recording its first decline in 18 months in September.
In terms of total sales for the first three quarters of the year, BYD has accumulated global deliveries of 1,605,900 units, while Tesla has sold 1,217,900 vehicles, a difference of approximately 388,000 vehicles.
