Chevrolet Debuts New Plug-in Hybrid Captiva in Mexico

Chevrolet presented the new Captiva PHEV, its first plug-in hybrid vehicle in the Mexican market, with which the brand seeks to maintain its leadership in the subcompact SUV segment.
“The Chevrolet Captiva PHEV represents a major step forward in the ongoing renewal of our vehicle portfolio, and also in the way we connect with Mexican families looking for a versatile vehicle with sophisticated design, smart technology, and a level of efficiency that makes a difference from the very first trip,” said Ángel Pacheco, Chevrolet Marketing Manager, during the launch in Oaxaca.
The Chevrolet Captiva PHEV has two engines: an electric motor that delivers 150 kW of power, 201 horsepower, and 229 lb-ft of torque, and a gasoline engine that delivers 78 kW of power and 105 horsepower.
Both work together to maximize performance, extend range, and reduce fuel consumption.

Thanks to its intelligent energy management system, this SUV automatically selects the ideal driving mode according to road conditions and battery status: ECO, ECO+, Normal, and Sport.
This means that in the city it drives like an electric car, and on the highway or long journeys it functions as a hybrid vehicle that optimizes performance and fuel economy.
When the driver wishes, they can activate EV MAX mode to continue their journey using only electric power, even if the vehicle was already operating in hybrid mode.
In terms of range, the Captiva PHEV offers up to 1,075 km of combined range, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocol, thanks to the efficient integration of both engines.
In addition, every time you brake or decelerate, the Chevrolet Captiva PHEV recovers energy and stores it in the battery, automatically increasing the range.
The 20.5 kWh battery can be recharged from a household outlet, at GM's 48 EV dealers in Mexico, as well as at any of the more than 1,100 compatible charging points in the Vemo and Evergo network throughout the country.

Thanks to its support for fast charging up to 23 kW, it can recover from 20% to 100% in just 38 minutes.
The vehicle has front-wheel drive, front and rear disc brakes with ABS, EBD, and electronic stability control, McPherson front suspension, independent rear suspension, and electric power steering.
The SUV is imported from China, where it is produced by a joint venture between General Motors and the state-owned SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation).
The 2026 Captiva PHEV features 18-inch aluminum wheels, an electric panoramic sunroof consisting of two panels, daytime running lights, and slim, wraparound LED headlights that integrate smart features such as automatic ignition.
It also has electrically adjustable, heated, and power-folding side mirrors with 360° camera functionality and turn signals, although some of these features are only included in the Premier version.
At the rear, it has a spoiler with a third LED brake light, an electric trunk with a volume of 532 liters that can be expanded to 1,690 liters with the second-row seats folded down, roof rails with a load capacity of 30 kg, and electric front and rear windows with an express up/down function.

In terms of technology, this SUV features a 6-speaker sound system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. It is equipped with five USB ports, as well as keyless entry and an automatic door locking system.
The air conditioning system includes scenarios and operates automatically in the front of the cabin; it also has digital controls on the central screen and buttons on the dashboard. Rear vents maximize occupant comfort.
Its robust Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) includes features such as six airbags, adaptive cruise control, forward pedestrian alert, rearview camera, and 360° camera.
It also features reverse sensors, forward collision warning, active front and side traffic monitoring, lane departure warning and assistance, automatic emergency braking, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Each Captiva PHEV comes with two chargers, one Level 1 and one Level 2, a 3-year or 60,000-kilometer warranty, an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer battery warranty, and the first maintenance service is free of charge.
Another benefit included is access to OnStar emergency services through the Guardian mobile app, with 6 months free, which can be shared with up to 7 family members, who will receive: automatic response in accidents, roadside assistance, emergency services, and real-time location.
The vehicle has a special financing rate of 11.99% through GM Financial, as well as attractive leasing plans.
The new Chevrolet Captiva PHEV will be available at Chevrolet EV dealerships in Mexico at the end of November, in 6 exterior colors and 2 interior colors, with a special launch price of 569,900 pesos for the LT trim level and 599,900 pesos for the Premier version.
