Chihuahua seeks to promote tourism in El Paso

CHIHUAHUA - The Universidad Regional del Norte (URN) signed a collaboration agreement with Visit El Paso, in order to encourage local tourism to vacation in the U.S. city.

As part of the promotion, modules will be installed at events and conventions held in the city of Chihuahua. In addition, URN students will be able to do their professional internships through Visit El Paso.

The Secretary of Tourism for the state of Chihuahua, Edibray Gómez Gallegos, commented that the alliance between URN and Visit El Paso is an example of how education and tourism can work hand in hand to create opportunities.

Gómez, explained that URN students not only receive high-level theoretical training, but will be able to put their knowledge into practice in a real environment, with an experience that transcends borders, will enrich their professional profile and will give them a competitive advantage that will be invaluable for their development.

“It is a strategy that will not only strengthen tourism in both regions, but will benefit communities on both sides of the border, as regional tourism has the power to generate significant economic impact, and with an alliance of this caliber, the foundations are laid for sustained growth,” said Gomez.

The agreement was signed by Daniel García Coello, corporate president of URN; Brooke Underwood, executive director of Visit El Paso; Verónica Castro, director of Tourism Development and Strategic Alliances of Visit El Paso; and Francisco Javier Jácquez Hernández, director of Unidad Chihuahua.
