Chihuahua signs agreement to promote talent, innovation, and space exploration

The Chihuahua State Government's Secretariats of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) and Education and Sport (SEyD) signed a collaboration agreement with Virtual Educa, Space Talent Lab, and the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA) with the aim of incorporating the state into the international educational program Reto Marte.

The agreement was signed during the Chihuahua delegation's participation in the Paris Air Show 2025, one of the most important events in the global aerospace industry.

Retro Marte is an international educational initiative that seeks to promote skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through school challenges related to life on Mars. Through hackathon-style activities, participants develop proposals to solve problems on both the red planet and Earth itself. The international final of this edition, focused on the theme of “Earth,” will be held in 2026 in Madrid, Spain.

During the signing, Ulises Fernández, head of SIDE, stressed the importance of connecting local talent with global technological innovation initiatives, especially in strategic sectors such as aerospace. For his part, Hugo Gutiérrez, Secretary of Education and Sport, pointed out that this type of project allows academic learning to be linked to real opportunities in the technological job market.

Also participating in the event were Adelino Sousa, executive director of Virtual Educa; Luis Lizcano, executive president of FEMIA; and representatives of the Mars Challenge program in Mexico, Salvador Alva Cobo and Agustín Paulín.
