Chihuahua’s new car sales continue to decline
JUAREZ – New car sales in the state of Chihuahua continue to decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA) announced that in September of this year the commercialization of light units registered a drop of 16.40% at an annual rate.
In September 2020, 2,066 vehicles were sold statewide, compared to the 2,470 sold in the same month in 2019.
Thus, the sale of new cars reached seven months in negative territory staring in March, when the day of the healthy distance began.
At the monthly rate, there was also a decrease. In August, there were 2,270 new automobiles, 204 less than in September, which is 8.99% less.
From January to March 2020, a total of 17,952 vehicles were sold throughout Chihuahua, 27.7% less than the 24,824 sold during the same period in 2019.
Nationally, AMDA reported a drop of 22.8% in September.
Of the 100,608 vehicles sold throughout Mexico in that month last year, it fell to 77,692 in the same month of 2020.
Chihuahua ranked 12th place among the states with the most commercialized light units.
