Doosung Tech to build automotive plant in Monclova

South Korean company Doosung Tech announced the construction of a manufacturing plant in Monclova, Coahuila, with an investment of close to US$27 million and the initial creation of 200 direct jobs. The project reinforces the region's position as a strategic center for the automotive industry and electric mobility in northern Mexico.

The facility will be located in the north of the municipality and will focus on the production of components for electric and hybrid vehicles, integrating into the sector's global value chain. This development is considered a turning point in the economic diversification of Monclova, traditionally linked to metallurgy, as it opens the way for high-tech and sustainable industries.

The arrival of Doosung Tech reflects the result of a collaboration between the government, private initiative, and the education sector, promoting a more competitive industrial ecosystem. Local and state authorities emphasize that Coahuila's security, infrastructure, and labor stability continue to be key factors in attracting new international investment.

One of the pillars of the project is technical and educational training. In coordination with universities and technology centers, a training program for young people will be implemented, with specialized courses in Korean language, advanced manufacturing processes, and automotive technology. This effort seeks to strengthen the job skills of the local population and generate a base of highly trained talent.

A commitment to sustainability and technological innovation also distinguishes this plant, which will incorporate automated processes and energy-efficient systems. In this way, Doosung Tech will not only contribute to economic development, but also to the transition to cleaner and more environmentally responsible production.

The facility is part of a long-term strategic vision that seeks to consolidate the Central-Desert Region of Coahuila as a competitive industrial cluster, capable of attracting companies from the automotive, electronics, and renewable energy sectors. This project is expected to generate a multiplier effect in services, suppliers, and indirect employment, in turn stimulating the growth of local small and medium-sized enterprises.

Company representatives have highlighted that the decision to invest in Monclova is due to the favorable environment offered by the region: connectivity, logistics infrastructure, skilled labor, and a stable regulatory framework. These factors allow for a prosperous future for both the company and the community.

The state and municipal governments reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting a climate of trust and collaboration that will consolidate new development opportunities. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between industrial competitiveness, social welfare, and respect for the environment.

The arrival of Doosung Tech symbolizes a new era for Monclova: a city that is evolving toward modernity without losing its productive identity. The combination of foreign investment, innovation, training, and inter-institutional cooperation makes this project an example of how joint efforts can positively transform the future of a region.

With this step, Monclova is projected as a benchmark for advanced manufacturing and sustainable mobility, strengthening its role in Mexico's new industrial era and positioning itself as an attractive destination for global investment.
