Exports to the US exceed expectations

For the January-September season—when mango exports are at their peak—shipments of this fruit to the United States are estimated to exceed 350,000 tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER).

In 2026, 19,734 orchards in Colima, Chiapas, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nayarit, Oaxaca, and Sinaloa were registered, covering a planted area of more than 102,000 hectares. In 2025, the value of mango exports to the United States was US$559,158,876.

By the end of March 2026, 45,230 tons had been shipped, and 161 shipments had been canceled due to health inspection issues, equivalent to 0.82% of shipments to the United States; whereas in 2025, the percentage of canceled shipments was 1.57%.

The ministry noted that the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety, and Quality (SENASICA), in conjunction with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), inspects shipments at the start of the export process; thus, if any health alert is detected, the shipment of fruit from that orchard is halted.
