Ford Negotiates Use of BYD Batteries in Hybrids: WSJ

Ford Motor Company and BYD are in negotiations for the Chinese automaker to supply batteries for the oval brand's hybrid vehicles, according to an exclusive report by the Wall Street Journal.

According to the report, the negotiations are not limited to a supplier-customer relationship, but also include possible collaborations in the development and assembly of electric vehicles.

Although the terms of the agreement are still being discussed, the batteries are expected to be used in markets other than the United States, according to the US media outlet, which cites sources “familiar with the matter.”

While Ford acknowledged discussing many potential agreements with various companies in the sector, BYD chose not to comment on the report.
