General Motors debuts the 2026 GMC Canyon AT4X in Mexico

General Motors has begun marketing the new 2026 Canyon AT4X, a vehicle that introduces the AT4X sub-brand to Mexico, a configuration that enhances off-road performance and stands out for its unique exterior and interior details.

“The AT4X package represents the pinnacle of off-road performance for GMC models,” said Tere Vera, Marketing Manager for Premium Brands at General Motors de México. “It's the perfect balance between maximum power to conquer any off-road terrain, with unique comfort details and the technology our customers expect.”

On the outside, the AT4X is distinguished by its 17-inch aluminum wheels with an exclusive all-terrain design in a glossy black finish that, combined with Mud Terrain tires, enhance both its rugged aesthetics and performance.

It features a front fascia that improves the approach angle to 33.5 degrees to tackle high obstacles.

It also includes metal rockers for side protection and a skid plate to protect the underside of the body, as well as LED daytime running lights with animated lighting sequences.

The interior features Obsidian Rush trim, heated and ventilated leather seats, all-weather vinyl floor mats with AT4X badging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a heated steering wheel with cruise and audio controls.

The GMC Canyon AT4X offers an Off-Road Performance Display, which allows real-time monitoring of crucial metrics such as G-force, altitude, and roll angle. It also includes Air Down Mode, for customizing tire pressure.

It is equipped with an 11-inch digital cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen that can display up to three applications simultaneously, as well as wireless phone projection compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additionally, it includes a GMC Premium Bose audio system, wireless smartphone charger, Head-Up Display, and two USB ports.

By opting for the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi system, up to seven devices can be connected simultaneously to a high-speed network. The MyGMC mobile app offers real-time diagnostics, remote commands, and vehicle location.

The GMC Canyon AT4X includes 12 months of OnStar Essentials services, the most comprehensive package for safety and assistance, as well as unlimited data during the same period, allowing you to stream video content from platforms such as Prime Video and Max on the infotainment screen. For safety reasons, this feature can only be used while the vehicle is stationary.

Performance

The GMC Canyon AT4X is powered by a 2.7L TurboMax engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

It features 4WD with a two-speed transfer case, a payload capacity of 669 kg, and a Professional Grade towing system, which combines a 360-degree camera, mobile app, and smart connection with a towing capacity of 3,494 kg.

It also integrates a 3-inch lift ZR2 off-road suspension: high-performance off-road shock absorbers, stronger control arms, and unique front and rear axles.

It offers four different driving modes: Terrain, for precision at low speeds on rocks; All Terrain, for general off-road dynamics; Normal, for balanced everyday driving; Tow/Haul, to optimize heavy load transport; and a new driving mode has been added: Baja Mode, which optimizes power delivery, stability, and traction control when driving on sandy terrain.

The pickup is equipped with six airbags and GMC Pro-Safety, which offers adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and low-speed collision mitigation, front pedestrian and cyclist detection, cross traffic braking alert, and distance indication assist.

It features a 360-degree camera and underbody cameras that provide complete visibility around the vehicle for safe and precise driving.

Customers can choose from a portfolio of 70 available accessories, 47 of which are exclusive to the AT4X version, including black Canyon AT4X emblems, off-road running boards, rocker panels, removable front assist steps, and lighting kit switches.

Both the GMC Canyon AT4X and the Denali version are available in six different colors at GMC dealerships in Mexico, with starting prices of 1,345,900 pesos for the AT4X and 1,277,400 pesos for the Denali.
