Guanajuato announces 48 investment projects and more than 11,000 new jobs

As part of the review of the Second Government Report, Secretary of Economy Claudia Villaseñor; Secretary of Tourism and Identity Maria Guadalupe Robles; and Secretary of Agriculture Marisol Suarez appeared before the members of the State Congress to present the progress and results of the “Guanajuato is Prosperity” initiative.

Under the leadership of Guanajuato Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Muñoz, the state is moving forward with a clear vision for development. During her remarks, the secretary highlighted that Guanajuato has established itself as Mexico’s fifth-largest economy, thanks to the joint efforts of society, businesses, and the government.

As of March 2026, 48 investment projects have been finalized, representing more than $3.7 billion and the creation of over 11,000 jobs, reaching 46% of the established goal.

The state is also thriving in the agricultural sector: 232 farming units were modernized with tractors, drones, and agricultural equipment, and nearly 111 hectares have been supported through protected agriculture. Additionally, water efficiency has been boosted by saving 7.8 million cubic meters of water and benefiting 18,000 people through rural connectivity initiatives.

These results reflect the People’s Government’s commitment to fostering an economy that generates prosperity, opportunities, and balanced growth. The state’s economic policy remains steadfast: attracting investment, strengthening MSMEs, supporting the agricultural sector, and promoting tourism, all with a long-term vision.
