Guanajuato records aerospace growth

In an interview with A21, Guanajuato’s Secretary of Economy, Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, explained that there are 18 companies in the aerospace sector in the state, 8 of which are already certified.
“We are identifying companies that want to raise their level of professionalism, and here I would highlight the Industrial Connections program, which we launched last April and in which any SME can participate in these B2B (Business-to-Business) events. There, they can assess the specific competencies required by this industry,” she said.
The aerospace sector is highly specialized, which is why it requires certifications from SMEs wishing to become its suppliers. Therefore, through the Undersecretariat of Workforce Training and SMEs, they are facilitating access to certifications to assist and support these companies, via the “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” financial program, which provides not only training but also financing ranging from US$574 to US$172,000.
Villaseñor acknowledged that the Halcon 2 project is a source of pride; supply chains must continue to mature, particularly the capabilities and training required by the sector, but that, without a doubt, Guanajuato is a state ready for growth and is diversifying. The aerospace industry plays a very significant role there.
The official noted that there is significant growth in manufacturing production, “where we also broke records with over US$63 billion last year, and the state’s economically active population exceeded 2.9 million people.”
