Hacienda forecasts growth in the Mexican economy

In its “Preliminary General Economic Policy Guidelines” document, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) projected that the Mexican economy will grow between 1.9% and 2.9% in 2027.

The agency stated that by 2026 and 2027, Mexico’s economy will return to a more dynamic trajectory as the intensity of the events that affected economic performance in 2025 diminishes.

“A global rebound in private investment is anticipated as companies adapt to the new regulatory environment and the review process of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) progresses,” the agency noted in the document.

Additionally, it detailed that in 2026, the economy will receive an additional boost as a result of the FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, the SHCP noted that the Bank of Mexico will continue its monetary easing process, setting the benchmark rate at 6.3% by the end of 2026 and 5.5% in 2027.

Furthermore, it forecasts that the exchange rate will close at 18.6 pesos per dollar, amid reduced uncertainty surrounding US trade policy and a favorable outcome in the USMCA review process.
