HCMF opens plant in Coahuila

HCMF, a Taiwanese company specializing in the manufacture of transportation equipment, opened its new plant in the municipality of Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, with an investment of over US$17.3 million. The project will generate more than 300 direct jobs and will focus on the production of sunroofs and sliding roofs for cars, also known as “sunroofs.”

With this opening, the company joins the industrial corridor of the southeastern region of Coahuila, one of the areas with the highest concentration of automotive and auto parts companies in the country. The arrival of HCMF reinforces the state's position as one of the main exporters in this sector in Mexico.

Company executives, state and municipal authorities participated in the inauguration ceremony. Jeffrey Hsi, president of HCMF North America, pointed out that the plant represents the firm's confidence in the talent and dedication of Mexican workers, in addition to highlighting the support of local governments and commercial allies in the development of the project.

The mayor of Ramos Arizpe, Tomás Gutiérrez Merino, stressed that the company's installation not only means investment and jobs, but also a vote of confidence in the region. He emphasized that Ramos Arizpe has established itself as a magnet for new industries thanks to its infrastructure, labor stability, and strategic location.

For his part, Coahuila's Secretary of Economy, Luis Olivares Martínez, explained that the opening of the plant is part of the state's business dynamic, where foreign investment continues to grow and global competitiveness is strengthened.

The event was also attended by representatives of the local Congress, federal and state officials, and HCMF executives. Among them was Tom Strickland, the company's director of operations, who highlighted the importance of this plant in the company's expansion strategy in North America.

The inauguration of HCMF comes amid growth for the automotive industry in Coahuila, a state that remains among Mexico's top three exporters. The arrival of new investments responds to the demand for specialized auto parts and components, driven by the proximity to the US market and the process of relocating production chains in the region.
