Heavy vehicles exceed 6,000 units in the first two months of 2025

Between January and February of this year 2025, retail sales of trucks and tractor-trailers reached 6,453 units, achieving its second best first two-month period of the year in the records of the heavy vehicle industry in Mexico.

This performance is surpassed only by that achieved in 2024, when 7,470 units were sold in the same period, according to data from the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Manufacturers (ANPACT).

Thus, the sale of trucks and tractors in the first two months of 2025 decreased 13.6% year-over-year.

Of total sales, 58.1% corresponded to tractor-trailers, with 3,754 units sold. However, this segment decreased 10.6% year-on-year in the first two months of the year.

In contrast, Class 8 truck sales reported a 6.9 percent growth, reaching 1,956 units.

It should be recalled that the sale of heavy vehicles at the beginning of 2025 is marked by the change in emissions standards, which, as of January 1, obliges manufacturers to produce and import only Euro VI or EPA 10 units.

This situation boosted a pre-purchase effect, especially in the final stretch of 2024, helping it to become the record year for heavy-duty vehicle sales.

This effect is even more reflected in the results of wholesale sales - from manufacturer to distributor - as 4,271 units were sold in the first two months of the year, a reduction of 37.5% compared to the same period of 2024.

In this line, all segments reported double-digit declines, the most relevant being in Class 4 (-87.6%), Class 6 (-80.4%) and Class 7 (-84.5%).
