Honda Unveils the Acura RSX, an Electric Car with a Sporty Focus

Honda's luxury division unveiled the Acura RSX Prototype in California, the first of a new generation of electric vehicles developed on the company's first global platform for zero-emission vehicles.

This model will be manufactured at the plant in Marysville, Ohio, which has been equipped with a flexible production line that will allow the RSX to be assembled alongside the Acura Integra starting in the second half of 2026.

“The production RSX will accelerate Acura's entry into the era of software-defined vehicles, introducing the world to ASIMO OS, a new proprietary global operating system designed to learn the user's preferences and driving behavior and deliver an ultra-personal experience,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of automotive sales at American Honda Motor, at the presentation.

The prototype made its debut at Monterey Car Week, one of the world's most important gatherings not only for the automotive industry, but also for motorsports enthusiasts.

The RSX features four-wheel drive and a dual-motor powertrain, sporty double-wishbone front suspension, low center of gravity, and standard Brembo brakes, promising a fun and engaging driving experience.

The dynamic styling reflects the design language introduced in the Acura Performance EV Concept, which debuted at this same event a year ago.

“The Acura RSX has a sporty coupe styling that expresses the performance that comes from excellent aerodynamics,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura's creative director and vice president of R&D at American Honda.

“Starting with this new RSX, we will redefine the Acura brand around timeless beauty and a sense of high technology, essential for a high-performance and unique brand,” added the executive.

The Acura RSX Prototype takes full advantage of the extreme design freedom in terms of stance and proportion offered by the company's next-generation EV platform, further pushing the boundaries of Acura design with an expressive coupe-style silhouette, imposing proportions, and high-tech details.

The Prototype's fastback roofline creates a sense of speed with deeply sculpted side surfaces, flush door handles, and an integrated ducktail rear spoiler.

At this time, Acura has not revealed the tentative price, nor has it disclosed figures for power, performance, or range per charge.
