Hyundai Mobis invests in Nuevo León

The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, announced an investment of approximately US$59 million by Hyundai Mobis during his working tour in South Korea. The project is expected to create around 250 jobs and boost technological development within the state’s automotive sector.

The investment is part of a broader strategy to attract foreign capital and position Nuevo León as a leading industrial hub in Mexico, particularly in high-value segments such as electromobility, advanced safety systems, and automotive electronics.

During his visit to the company’s facilities in Asia, the governor highlighted that the expansion aligns with Hyundai Mobis’ global growth plans. The company is recognized as the technology arm of automakers like Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, with a strong focus on innovation, autonomous driving, and semiconductor development.

He also noted that the company plans additional investments of about US$50 million to further advance autonomous vehicle technologies and semiconductor capabilities in the near term.

Hyundai Mobis began operations in Nuevo León in 2014, in the municipality of Pesquería, with an initial investment of US$430 million. Since then, it has maintained steady growth, reaching a cumulative investment of more than US$700 million in the state.

This expansion has had a significant impact on employment, with the company generating over 4,000 jobs across operational and administrative roles, positioning it as a key supplier within Nuevo León’s automotive cluster.

In terms of production, Hyundai Mobis has diversified into key vehicle components, including automotive modules, chassis and safety systems, fascias, braking systems, airbags, lighting, and electronics. It has also incorporated battery system assembly, aligning with the global shift toward vehicle electrification.
