Pennsylvania-based Brentwood Industries opens plant for medical supplies in Tijuana

Pennsylvania-based plastics manufacturer Brentwood Industries Inc. announced the opening of a “multi-million” medical manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Baja California. This facility represents Brentwood’s first strategic international expansion dedicated to custom thermoformed medical packaging.
As a major North American medical manufacturing hub, Tijuana continues to experience growth at a rapid pace. “We’ve been evaluating expansion into Tijuana for a number of years, particularly considering the large push in the medical industry to source all packing and components as close to the point-of-manufacture as possible,” said in a statement Andrew Haus, Brentwood’s Medical Product Line Manager. “This new facility will position Brentwood very favorably in the market, allowing us to continue to offer industry-leading service and value to our customers.”
Located along the southern border of Tijuana, the clean room facility will serve Central America and the western United States, an approach that aligns with Brentwood’s corporate expansion model of opening a site in a specific geography with the intention of catering to that geography.
The site also provides a critical capability for Brentwood: operational redundancy. Brentwood is confident that adding a new ISO Class 7 clean room environment will offer medical OEMs the security and flexibility required for critical projects.
“Our aim is always to pursue new opportunities,” says Haus. “Whether that means coming up with an innovative design for a client’s project or best positioning ourselves – literally – to serve our growing customer base, we will continue to invest in the medical sector to support the needs of our customers.”
Founded in 1965, family-owned Brentwood’s corporate headquarters is in Reading, Pa. In addition to thermoforming and injection molding, it also makes parts for industrial-grade batteries, manufactures wheelbarrows, attic ventilation systems and marine bulkheads, cooling tower components, storm tank products, interior and exterior parts for heavy-duty truck and mass transit manufacturers, and water and wastewater treatment systems.
It has seven manufacturing facilities in the United States and three international operations: India, Thailand and the Czech Republic.
