YFYJupiter, a Hong Kong-headquartered supplier of sustainable packaging solutions, opened a production facility in Ciudad Juarez, its first in Latin America.

“Many of our customers are in Ciudad Juarez; therefore, we needed a facility here,” said Vincent Chen, president for Asia for YFY Jupiter. “Also, this city has many industrial activity and we can brand our products here.”

The company created 150 full-time jobs and invested US$ 3 million in equipment. The full investment for this facility was not disclosed.

YFYJupiter provides packaging solutions for some of the biggest companies in the electronic manufacturing services (EMS) sector operating in the Juarez/El Paso area. Their global portfolio includes Google, Dell and HP among its main customers.

Chen said this is an initial stage because the company already has a capacity expansion planned for the nearby future. The facility operates 5 forming machines and it will double in the next two years.

In its process, the company uses recycled material and water and has integrated sustainable principles to be environment friendly.
