New York-based diversified manufacturer ITT Corporation announced it has officially began production of highly engineered brake pads in a new plant located at the Guanajuato Puerto Interior industrial park, in the municipality of Silao, Guanajuato.

Through its subsidiary ITT Motion Technologies, the company invested US$ 60 million and opened 300 job positions in order to start production with an output capacity of 1.7 million pieces per year, which will gradually increase to 20 million in the next couple years.

“The facility implements state-of-the-art technology that adheres to ITT's global standards, including advanced material science expertise and high levels of product consistency,” said Luca Savi, president of ITT's Motion Technologies business. "As always, we are committed to serving our OEM and Tier 1 customers with the responsiveness and high quality that will help them succeed with their customers."

The plant was built in a 5 hectares green field with enough space to double production capacity to 40 million pieces if demand requires it.

ITT provides breaking components for Tier 1 automotive suppliers such as ZF and Continental, which develop more complete braking solutions, but it also delivers directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) such as General Motors, Ford and Volkswagen.
