Ford honors Mexican manufacturer Metalsa as top-performing global supplier

Mexico-based manufacturer Metalsa was recognized as a top-performing global supplier for Ford Motor Company at the 20th annual Ford World Excellence Awards, the company revealed in a statement. Only 30 companies were selected as finalists from thousands of Ford suppliers globally.

Metalsa was presented with a Special Recognition Award for the “Exemplary Launch of the 2018 Expedition and Navigator Full Frame” by Ford Motor Company's Joe Hinrichs, executive vice president and president, global operations, and Hau Thai-Tang, executive vice president, product development and purchasing.

"Metalsa has proven that by working in close collaboration with our customers and applying best practices we can together achieve great results," said Metalsa CEO Leopoldo Cedillo at the ceremony. "Metalsa's growth in the automotive industry is driven by continuous improvement and process innovation. We strive to ensure long-term success for all our stakeholders. We thank Ford for their partnership and trust."

Established in 1956 as Manufacturas Metálicas Monterrey with a plant in Churubusco, Mexico, the company initially produced structures for the construction industry then began manufacturing automotive parts four years later. The company changed its name to Metalsa in 1980.

The subsidiary of Grupo Proeza currently manufactures structural components for the light and commercial vehicle markets. Products include chassis frames and body structural stampings and assemblies for passenger cars and light trucks, as well as chassis frames, side rails and crossmembers for heavy trucks and buses.

The company has presence in Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, South Africa and the United States.
